Three Rules for Making Perfect Chaffles –
Make sure your waffle machine is nice and hot before you add the mixture.
Make sure your waffle iron has a nice nonstick surface. I’ve seen many fails when you use an older waffle maker that doesn’t have a good nonstick base to it.
Make sure you are cooking your chaffles long enough to get them nice and crispy. If you open the lid too soon, the chaffle will be melty and cheesy… You can also add a small amount of cheese to the waffle iron before the batter too. This will create a nice and crispy crust!
Who made it first?
Well, it is difficult to say who came up with this brilliant idea, but I found some sources that Sanal’s recipe posted couple of years back was modified a bit and chaffle was discovered.
Which Waffle Maker You Should Use?
You can possibly use any waffle makers to make them, my preference is Dash Mini Waffle Makers as it is amongst many more ketoers. This product, is cheap, durable and small so it won’t clutter your kitchen further. Additionally, chaffles comes out great in this waffle maker because of its superb non-stick coating.
If you want to use syrup on your Chaffles, I highly recommend Lakanto Maple-Flavored Syrup. It is keto-friendly (only 1g net carbs per 2 tbsp) and absolutely delicious!
